Which paper stock is right for your postcard?

Every stock prints full color on both sides. The difference is weight, finish, and how the piece feels in hand.

14pt Gloss UV finish

14pt Gloss UV

14pt · 100lb · UV coated

Stands out in a mailbox stack

High-gloss UV coating over 14pt stock. Colors are vivid, photos are sharp, and the sheen makes it the piece a recipient picks up first. Resists moisture and fingerprints through the mail stream.

Best for: Real estate, restaurants, and HVAC. Any campaign that needs to stop the hand flipping through the stack.

The most economical stock, included in base pricing.

14pt Matte finish

14pt Matte

14pt · 100lb · flat finish

Clean and easy to write on

Same weight as gloss with a flat, non-reflective finish. Text reads easily in any light, and ballpoint ink writes on the back, so recipients can jot notes or appointment times.

Best for: Healthcare, professional services, and trades where the recipient may write on it or pass it along with a note.

Same price as 14pt Gloss. Pick it when readability and a writeable surface matter.

16pt · 110lb · gloss UV

16pt Thick

16pt · 110lb · gloss UV

Premium weight, maximum impact

Forty percent thicker than standard postcard stock. The moment someone picks it up they feel the difference, and they hold onto it longer. UV coating keeps colors vivid through the whole mail journey.

Best for: High-value campaigns where cost per response matters most. Luxury real estate and high-ticket home services.

A small step up from 14pt. Worth it when the piece needs to feel as credible as the business behind it.

Postcards that bring in customers

The campaigns that work best have one thing in common: the right size, the right timing, and a clear next step.

Real Estate

The Just Listed card that traces to closings

Mail to the surrounding neighborhood within days of a new listing, while interest is highest. A 6×9 postcard has room for the listing photo, the price, and a QR code straight to the full MLS page.

Pro tip

Mail within 3 days of listing. Response drops sharply after a week. A QR code to the listing lets serious buyers scan it on the spot.

Home Services & Trades

The seasonal card that fills the schedule

Mail ahead of your busy season to the ZIP codes where your install base is heaviest. The postcard sits on the counter until the day they need you, then your number is already in hand.

Pro tip

Time the mailing to land 3–4 weeks before peak demand. Add a deadline to the offer to turn interest into a booked call.

Restaurants

The card that brings guests back

Mail seasonal reveals, holiday reservations, and new hours to past guests. A physical piece on the fridge reaches people who stopped opening your emails months ago.

Pro tip

Use the 6×9 size so the card stands out in the stack with room for a full food photo. Mail your ZIP plus the two ZIPs most of your reservations come from.

What Our Customers Say

I mailed Just Listed postcards to my farm neighborhood for the first time and had two homeowners reach out about listing their homes. Two listings from one mailing. I'll be doing this every time now.

Terri G.

Coldwell Banker Realty, Bedminster NJ

We've been mailing 500 postcards every spring for AC tune-up season. This year our call volume tripled compared to the year before. The postcards pay for themselves in the first week.

Dave K.

Local HVAC Company, Central NJ

We send seasonal postcards to past guests with a return offer. Our response rate is higher than anything we've tried with online printers. People actually hold on to these and call months later.

Maria S.

Fountain Motel, Branchburg NJ

Frequently asked questions

What postcard size gets the best response?

Our 6×9" is the most impactful for direct mail. It stands out in an envelope-heavy mailbox and provides enough space for a clear headline, image, offer, and call-to-action. The 5×7" is a popular choice for event announcements and referral cards. The 4×6" is the most economical when quantity is more important than size.

What paper stock should I use?

14pt Gloss is the industry standard for postcards. It's the weight the postal system expects and it holds up through delivery. 16pt Gloss UV adds a protective coating that makes your colors more vivid and the card more tactile. In a stack of mail, the UV-coated card is the one that gets picked up first.

What's the minimum quantity?

Our minimum is 250 postcards. For a meaningful response from a local NJ neighborhood campaign, most clients order 500–2,500 per drop. Quantity pricing breaks at 500, 1,000, and 2,500. The per-piece cost at 1,000 is significantly lower than at 250.

Can I address these and mail them myself?

Yes. Our postcards are printed on USPS-compatible stock and sized for standard postage. You can address them yourself, run them through a mailing house, or hand them out directly. If you want saturation mailing to every address in a neighborhood with no list needed, our EDDM Postcards are the right product for that.

What file format do you need?

PDF is preferred. 300 DPI, CMYK color mode, with 0.125" bleed on all sides. If you have any questions about your file, our free design review catches every issue before we go to press.

How long does printing take?

3–5 business days after proof approval. Rush orders are available. Call us at 908.232.7770. Local Branchburg, NJ customers can also arrange same-day pickup on qualifying orders.

How much do postcards cost?

Standard postcards at L&B start at $32 for 25 cards and scale down to approximately $0.05 per card at high volumes. Size affects price. 4×6" is the most economical, while 6×9" costs a bit more per piece but delivers stronger results for direct mail campaigns. Every order includes free shipping and a free design review, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Why order postcards from L&B instead of an online printer?

L&B Printing has been producing postcards for NJ businesses for over 50 years. Unlike online printers that run your file unreviewed through an automated queue, every L&B order gets a free design review before we print. We check your headline strength, CTA clarity, QR code links, USPS compliance for mailing, and image resolution. We're a local NJ shop, which means you can call us directly, get a real answer, and know your job is being handled by someone who cares about your results.

What if something is wrong with my order?

The L&B Promise: if we make a printing error on our end, we'll reprint your order at no charge. In practice, it rarely gets that far. Our free design review process catches virtually every issue before we go to press. We stand behind every job. Call us at 908.232.7770 if you ever have a concern.
